Preview: Winless SC Villa Aims to Halt NEC’s Winning Start
SC Villa welcome NEC FC on Friday for Matchday three of the Uganda Premier League at Wankulukuku, in search for their first victory of the season.
After narrowly missing out on last season’s title, the Jogoos have had a shaky start to this campaign, suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Kitara and settling for a 1-1 draw against Maroons in Luzira.
Serbian Head Coach Dusan Stojanovic is undoubtedly looking for a more convincing performance from his team as they prepare to host the Newcomers.
Meanwhile, NEC FC is enjoying a dream debut season in the Uganda Premier League, having amassed six points from their first two games.
They began with a narrow 1-0 victory over Mbarara City, courtesy of Joseph Dhata’s lone goal, at Kakyeka.
And followed it up with an impressive 5-0 win against Busoga United at Lugogo.
Captain Marvin Kavuma scored a brace, while Rashid Okocha (penalty), Allan Mugalu and an own goal handed NEC a big win.
However, facing SC Villa, a club with an illustrious history of 16 league titles, will pose their toughest challenge to date.
The clash promises to be an exciting encounter as both teams strive to make their mark in this season’s competition.
