Uganda Premier League giants KCCA are set to confirm parting ways with their head coach, Sergio Traguil.
The-SportsNation sources suggest that the club’s board has voted to separate from the Portuguese due to a disappointing start to the season.
KCCA has endured a worst start to the league, suffering four consecutive losses against BUL, Maroons, Express and Kitara.
Traguil has come under heavy criticism from the club’s fans, and it appears that he has lost control of the team’s dressing room.
In their previous game, a 3-1 loss to Kitara, Traguil suspended Moses Waiswa and Derrick Ochan.
Traguil was appointed as the head coach of KCCA FC on June 12, 2023, succeeding Jackson Mayanja, who had been serving as the interim manager since April 19, 2023.
The decision to sack Traguil, if it comes to pass, may feel rushed, but it can be justified as there is no indication of improvement judging from the previous performances.
Under Traguil, the Club also lost to URA FC in FUFA Super Eight before elimination from CAF Confederation Cup in hands of Abu Salim from Libya.
He initiated his coaching journey at Sports Lisboa e Benfica, overseeing the club’s youth teams, and subsequently ventured to Kaduna United in Nigeria.
His coaching experience extends to renowned clubs such as Hearts of Oak (Ghana), Singida Big Stars (Tanzania), CD Lunda Sul (Angola), Vilankulos (Mozambique), Mirbat SC (Oman), Kabuscorp SC (Angola), Santa Rita CFC (Angola), and most recently, Township Rollers FC (Botswana).
