Dismas Indiza Clinches Seventh JW Uganda Golf Open Professionals Title

Kenyan Dismas Indiza secured his seventh Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Open Professionals title at the Uganda Golf Course in Kitante.

Indiza’s triumph added another chapter to his storied history in the tournament, marking another exceptional achievement in his career.

Indiza’s exceptional performance culminated in a four-day total of 277 (11 under par), securing him the top position.

He had to beat Ronald Rugumayo and Paulino Kasoma who tied at 280 (-8), the former having led from Day One.

Outside Rugumayo, Philip Kasozi the other Ugandan finished fourth while Zimbabwean Visitor Mapwanya followed.

Throughout the tournament, Indiza showcased his mastery of the course, demonstrating consistency and precision.

His final round was a remarkable display of skill, recording an eagle on the first hole and a string of birdies on the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 13th, and 16th holes.

Despite a few setbacks with bogeys on the 9th, 11th, and 17th holes, his strong start and resilient play ensured his well-deserved win.

“The game was okay, everything was going on well and I enjoyed every bit of it. Despite hitting there bogeys, I wanted 8 under today,” Rugumayo briefly commented.

Indiza’s victory at the Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Professionals Open marks his seventh win in this prestigious event.

His previous titles in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2018 solidify his dominance in the tournament, making him a formidable force in Ugandan golf.

“I played without pressure because I had won this before. But today’s victory is my softest of the seven.

“I initially thought Rugumayo was going to win it.”

Indiza’s remarkable win earned him a prize of Sh21 million, highlighting not only his sporting prowess but also the substantial rewards that accompany success in the field of professional golf.

The Kenyan veteran Golfer is 54 years old and said that he is not thinking of retiring soon.
