The Mwiri Old Boys League has pledged its support to the Busoga Kingdom’s upcoming royal wedding by contributing Shs10m in honor of their alumnus, the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV.
The league commemorated this commitment during the Fourth Season of the Guinness-sponsored league at Legends Rugby grounds.
Salvo FC maintained their lead in the league, with the announcement made during the latest match.
The event also paid tribute to distinguished alumnus Henry Kyemba, a renowned figure in Ugandan politics.
A memorial match honored Kyemba, highlighting the deep connections fostered by the Mwiri League.
The league’s essence expanded beyond football, creating an avenue for reunions and memories, emphasized by the partnership with Guinness, which added flavor to the matches.
“The pairing between Guinness and football is unmatched. We are proud to associate with the Mwiri League because it has grown to become more than just a football competition,” said Patience Aguti, Project Manager, UBL.
“It is a place where friends reunite and catch up and memories are rekindled. We are glad to be a part of the experience.”
Special appearances by Azawi and DJ Hyber at the after-party enhanced the overall experience for both football and rugby fans.
As the league gears up for upcoming match days, including the grand finale on December 9, 2023, anticipation mounts for more thrilling matches, heartwarming reunions, and impactful initiatives that define the Mwiri League’s uniqueness.
