Preview: Mbarara City Out To Stop SC Villa

Mbarara City aims to bounce back as they host SC Villa at Kakyeka in a league match this Saturday.

The Ankole Lions are seeking redemption following a recent 2-1 loss against Gaddafi FC, with Coach Wasswa Bbosa pushing for a strong response from his team.

Bbosa fancies facing such big teams, especially his former team, where he came close to securing a league title during the 2016/17 season.

This fixture was supposed to be played on Thursday, but pushed to Sunday to allow SC Villa trio of Kenneth Ssemakula, Gavin Kizito and Umar Lutalo return from the National team.

Having secured nine out of a possible 12 points at Kakyeka, despite an initial 0-1 defeat against newcomers NEC, Bbosa remains optimistic.

On the flip side, the Jogoos enter the game after a 3-1 victory over Arua Hill before the International break, breaking a two-game winless streak, including a home defeat against BUL.

This marks Villa’s third away fixture of the season; having drawn their previous two matches 1-1 against Vipers and Maroons, their resilience on the road is evident.

Mbarara City, with seven points in eight games, eyes a leap in standings over the team holding eight points after six games, with a potential win.
