Uganda U18 Boys National Team head coach Morley Bwekwaso has expressed his team’s readiness for the CECAFA U18 Boys Championship 2023.
Uganda’s opening match will be played against Tanzania on Sunday, November 26 at Bhukungu Stadium in Kakamega, Kenya at 3:00pm and will be aired live on KBC TV and YouTube.
“My boys are ready to compete, the Ugandan coach said.
“We just need to tell them how to play at this level and relax them off pressure. With this they understand what to do to get positive results,” Bwekwaso added.
Uganda and Tanzania have met at so many other levels before, and all the encounters have produced some really tense moments.
This tournament, however marks the first time these two sides meet in the U18 category, a factor Bwekwaso admitted might bother his team only a little.
“The only problem might be not knowing the opponents well since we’ve not interfaced in this age category-U18,” Bwekwaso said before adding;
“But we have for several times met in other categories. We shall insist on playing the way we’ve been training.”
Uganda is drawn in Group B of the competition, which also has Tanzania, Zanzibar and South Sudan, to be based in Kakamega.
Meanwhile, hosts Kenya who have been drawn in Group A alongside Somalia, Rwanda and Sudan will be based in Kisumu.
From the draw was conducted by the CECAFA Competitions Director, Yussuf Mossi at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru, only the best two teams from each group will qualify for the semi finals.
The tournament will take place from November 25 to December 9, and the semi finals and final will all be played in Kisumu.
