•BUL 2-1 Kitara
BUL solidified their position at the summit of the Uganda Premier League with a well-deserved 2-1 victory over Kitara at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Sunday.
Alex Kitata’s first-half brace propelled BUL to 21 points, placing them four points clear of second-placed Vipers after eight league matches.
However, BUL ended the game with 10 men as Ibrahim Kazindula received his marching orders for a second yellow card following a challenge on Jasper Aheebwa.
Denis Omedi pulled one back for Kitara in the 80th minute, but BUL managed to maintain their lead until the final whistle.
Kitata opened the scoring in the seventh minute, capitalizing on a Nicholas Mwere delivery to direct his effort past Kitara goalkeeper Crispus Kusiima.
Mwere later capitalized on a Kitara error, launching a long-range strike that Kusiima failed to handle, allowing Kitata to bundle in the second goal in the 18th minute.
The match was later interrupted by a heavy downpour at Njeru before resuming at a slower pace.
Kitara’s goal stemmed from a long throw-in that BUL struggled to defend, ultimately leading to Brian Aheebwa setting up Omedi for a goal.
This marks the third consecutive game without a win for Kitara, having previously lost to Maroons and settled for a 2-2 draw against URA FC.
Brian Ssenyondo’s side remains third in the standings with 16 points, missing an opportunity to overtake leaders BUL.
Looking ahead, BUL is scheduled to visit Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium this Friday, while Kitara will travel back to Masindi to face fellow newcomers NEC on Saturday.
