Uganda secured their third victory at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers ongoing in Windhoek, Namibia with a 9-wicket win over Nigeria on Monday.
The Cricket Cranes followed their history making win against Zimbabwe on Sunday with this victory thanks majorly to Dinesh Nakrani, the eventual Man of the Match and Ronak Patel.
Nakrani led the bowlers in restricting Nigeria’s score to just 99 with his three wickets while Ronak ensured the chase was a smooth one with his 60 not out.
Bilal Hassun (2), Alpesh Ramjani (2) and Henry Ssenyondo also had their names in the wicket column as Nigeria got bowled out while Roger Mukasa with 28 accompanied Ronak in the Ugandan innings.
The win means the senior team is closer to a maiden World Cup appearance. All they have to do is win their remaining two games to earn their ticket to the World Cup for the first time ever.
The Cricket Cranes will take a break on Tuesday and will return to action on Wednesday with another crunch tie against bitter rivals Kenya.
Uganda will then end their campaign against Rwanda on Thursday.
Jackson Ogwang’s team is now second in the table standing after ousting Kenya with a superior run rate.
