CECAFA U18: Uganda face South Sudan In Group B Decider

Group B fixtures (Saturday, December 2);

Tanzania vs Zanzibar (2:00PM)
South Sudan vs Uganda (2:00PM)

Group B Table before last games;

  1. Tanzania (3 Points)
  2. Uganda (3 Points)
  3. Zanzibar (3 Points)
  4. South Sudan (3 Points)

The Uganda U18 national team head coach Morley Byekwaso is aware of the technicalities involved in their last group (B) game against South Sudan in the ongoing CECAFA U18 championship in Kenya.

Only the best two teams from each group ( A and B) will qualify for the semi finals, and as it stands in group B, all the four teams still have a realistic chance at qualification.

“There are a lot of things we still need to rectify so that our progression gets smooth,” Byekwaso noted after the team’s last game, before the Saturday clash.

The last group B game present some entertaining matchups as Uganda battles South Sudan while Tanzania square off with Zanzibar.

In group B, after two games, everyone has been beaten once, and everyone has beaten someone! All the four teams are now level on three points each.

Tanzania beat Uganda 1-0, Uganda beat Zanzibar 2-1, Zanzibar beat South Sudan 1-0 and South Sudan beat Tanzania 2-1.

Interestingly, that also implies that all the four teams not only have equal points, but also exactly equal goal difference (0 each)- same number of goals scored (2 each) and same number of goals conceeded (2 each).

Uganda, who had lost the opening game to Tanzania had their qualification hopes restored after the 2-1 win against Zanzibar, complicating the table even more.

The tournament that started on November 25 will go on until December 9. The semi finals and final will all be played in Kisumu.
