Kataka FC head coach Godfrey ‘Toldo’ Awachango has expressed his side’s readiness to take on Lugazi in the FUFA Big League.

Kataka host the Lugazi-based side at Mbale stadium on Sunday, Dec 3, and Lufumbi will be looking to get their fifth straight win at home.

“The boys are ready, we have no worries, except for Junior Zaake who is doubtful with a minor fitness issue, and our captain Steven Namaisi who is away on national duty.”

Namaisi was in the Uganda U18 starting eleven that defeated Zanzibar in the ongoing CECAFA U18 championship in Kenya.

Initiating dangerous attacks from both the right and left flanks, the defender has directly contributed to all Kataka’s four wins at home, assisting team mates to score through his deadly long throw-ins.

On all four occasions, he was the center of attention at Mbale stadium as Kataka beat Jinja North (2-1), Kigezi HomeBoys (2-1), Blacks Power (2-1) and Kiyinda Boys (1-0) respectively to maintain their one hundred percent winning record at home.

“Offcourse, he (Namaisi) is a very important player for our team, but now he’s not around, and as coaches, we have to be flexible and figure out ways of playing without him,” Toldo explained.

“In football, we always expect moments like these where one or more players are not available, and we must play for a positive result regardless.”

“We played without Namaisi in our last game away,and we scored, we shall be able to create chances to score, and also defend with the available players,” the Kataka head coach affirmed.

Toldo also noted that he’s aware of their next opponent’s good form. He said;

“Lugazi is a good side that we can’t underestimate, they have won games both at home, and away from home – we know how much a challenge they’re bringing to us on Sunday, but we’re ready for them.”

In nine games, Kataka have lost thrice, drawn twice and won four times. All their four wins have come at Mbale stadium.

The Mbale- based side, following their one-all draw with Kaaro Karungi is now on fourteen points.

Kataka Probable starting XI; Solomon Okello (GK), Noah Kizito, Joel Baba Onziku, , Imulla Okello, Lazarus Ocire, Ronald Mwokye, Latif Ssenkubuge, Swamad Okur, Bosco Munyolo, Steven Olinga, Edmond Wamboka.
