CECAFA U18: Uganda Through To Semis

Group B;

  1. Uganda (6 Points)
  2. Tanzania (4 Points)
  3. Zanzibar (4 Points)
  4. South Sudan (3 Points)

Group A;

  1. Kenya (9 Points)
  2. Rwanda (6 Points)
  3. Somalia (3 Points)
  4. Sudan (0 Points)

Uganda U18 overcame South Sudan U18 to qualify to the CECAFA U18 championship semi final.

In the last Group B matches played on Saturday, Abubakar Mayanja and Dennis Kisiriko scored for Uganda as they beat South Sudan 2-0, while Zanzibar drew 1-1 with Tanzania.

The above results ensured that Uganda finish top of group B with six points, followed by Tanzania and Zanzibar with four points each, while South Sudan finished last on the table with three points.

Both Tanzania and Zanzibar finished the group stage with the same number of points and goals, but Tanzania secured the semi final spot due to their lower accumulation of yellow cards (Fair play) having received 4 compared to Zanzibar’s 5.

In group A, it’s hosts Kenya and Rwanda who have have qualified for the semi final stage with nine and six points respectively.

In semi finals to be played on Tuesday, December 5, Uganda will tussle it out with Rwanda at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu at mid-day.

Later on at 3:00PM on the same date, Kenya will battle Tanzania in the second semi final match at the same Stadium.

The play-off to determine the third team and the final will be played on December 8th, 2023.
