SC Villa Beat Express To Take Derby Bragging Rights

Friday, December 8
•Express 1-2 SC Villa

SC Villa staged a remarkable comeback against hosts and rivals Express in a thrilling Kampala derby at Wankulukuku.

Express, led by new coach Alex Isabirye, began strongly with Alpha Ssali scoring early.

However, SC Villa responded before halftime through Patrick Jonah Kakande and secured the win with Umar Lutalo’s goal in the second.

The match faced a delayed kickoff due to security concerns, resulting in shortened halves of 40 minutes each.

Asali initially gave Express an advantage with a deflected effort, but Villa persisted and equalized through Kakande’s well-timed finish after beating the offside trap.

Villa’s victory was sealed in the second half when Lutalo converted a penalty after Ronald Ssekiganda was fouled in the box, sending goalkeeper Abdul Kimera the wrong way.

SC Villa move to 16 points, three above Express who sit a place below in seventh place.

Express, winless in last six games, visit Kitara on December 12 while SC Villa who remain unbeaten in last five games will host Gaddafi at Wankulukuku on December 13.
