Preview: Work Cut Out For Express

Express faces an uphill task when they take on Kitara on Tuesday in a Uganda Premier league game in Masindi.

The Red Eagles aim to halt a six-game winless streak and come into this fixture on the back of a 2-1 defeat against rivals SC Villa.

And this will be the second match under new coach Alex Isabirye.

Express seeks redemption after their sluggish performance against Villa, in which they looked second best despite taking a lead through Alpha Ssali’s deflected goal.

Kitara, bolstered by their home crowd, looks to capitalize on Express’s defensive vulnerabilities.

And they will be hungry to make amends after coming off a 2-1 loss to Vipers, marred by a controversially disallowed late equalizer.

Following that disallowed goal at Kitende, the assistant referee Juma Osire has since been suspended by FUFA.

Sitting fourth with 19 points, Kitara eyes maximum points in this encounter as they seek to climb further up.

This will be the third league clash between the two sides having met in the 2020/21 season; Frank Kalanda scored from the spot in a 1-0 win in Masindi.

In the second round fixture, Eric Kambale scored twice while Arthur Kiggundu and Kalanda added a goal each as Express won 4-0 to relegate Kitara.
