•Kitara 1-0 Express
•KCCA 3-0 Bright Stars
KCCA surged out of the relegation zone with an impressive 3-0 victory against Bright Stars in a Uganda Premier League clash at Lugogo under floodlights.
Usama Arafat, Shaban Muhammad, and Emmanuel Loki secured the win for the hosts in front of their crowd.
Usama set the tone when he scored from point-blank range after Bright Stars goalkeeper Derrick Were failed to keep out a goal-bound cross by Etienne Katenga.
Shaban then demonstrated composure, netting from close quarters after a setup by Joel Sserunjogi, as KCCA doubled their advantage in the 80th minute.
Then Shaban set Loki for the third goal, his first goal since joining the club from Bright Stars this season.
KCCA were good value for the result, and could have widened the scoreline further. Bright Stars’ Kato Nemeyimana who was facing his former side, cleared off the line, Moses Waiswa narrowly missed from a free-kick, and Shaban was denied by the woodwork from a distance.
This triumph marks KCCA’s return to winning form after a 2-1 loss to Mbarara City.
And this propels them out of the relegation zone to the 13th spot with 10 points, edging past Wakiso Giants on goal difference.
Moreover, this victory extends KCCA’s winning streak at Lugogo to three matches, while Bright Stars suffered their fourth defeat of the season in the league.
