Preview: Mbarara City Welcome Kitara in Derby
Mbarara City prepares to host Kitara at Kakyeka Stadium in a Western Region derby this Wednesday.
The Ankole Lions aim to capitalize on home advantage, seeking to cause an upset against the newly promoted Kitara side.
Since losing to NEC in their opener, Mbarara City are since unbeaten at home in five games, conceding just two goals during the spell.
Returning to the top flight, Mbarara has generally struggled, hovering just two points above the relegation zone.
And its work cut out for the hosts who will be without head coach Wasswa Bbosa who is serving his last game after he was sent off against KCCA at Kakyeka.
Meanwhile, Kitara, currently in third place with 22 points, despite recent inconsistent performances, eyes narrowing the gap to leaders BUL with a potential win.
A victory for Kitara would position them a point behind the league leaders, BUL, who are set to clash with second-placed Vipers on Friday at Kitende.
The match promises to reunite former teammates and the head coach, Brian Ssenyondo, as several Kitara players previously represented Mbarara City, including Jasper Aheebwa, Solomon Okwalinga, Brian Aheebwa, Paul Mucureezi, and Jude Ssemugabi.
