Vipers, Uganda Premier League champions, has officially parted ways with head coach Leonard Martins Neiva.
The club confirmed this decision through its official website on Sunday evening.
“Vipers Sports Club announces the mutual termination of its contract with Mr. Leonard Martins Neiva (Head Coach), effective December 23rd, 2023.
The club expresses gratitude to Neiva for his contributions during his tenure with the team and extends best wishes for his future career,” stated the club.
Neiva’s dismissal follows Vipers’ 3-2 home defeat against BUL FC on Friday, marking the end of Vipers’ two-year unbeaten streak at home in the league.
This season, Vipers encountered challenges securing positive results, raising concerns about Neiva’s coaching strategies.
Even before the recent loss, Vipers faced difficulties in the CAF Champions League and were eliminated from the FUFA Super Eight tournament.
Neiva took over as head coach in July this year, succeeding Alex Isabirye at the Kitende-based club.
Vipers remain second on the log, five points adrift of leaders BUL after 12 games.
