NEC FC and Bright Stars clashed in a league showdown at Lugogo, resulting in a goalless stalemate.

Despite numerous chances created by both teams during their final league match this year, neither side managed to break the deadlock.

The draw saw NEC FC accumulating 21 points, maintaining their fifth position, while Bright Stars secured 15 points, positioning themselves in the 10th spot.

At Lugogo, Bright Stars threatened early as Yasin Mugume missed a golden opportunity to score after a superb pass from Nelson Ssenkatuuka.

NEC FC will rue their missed opportunities in the first half, with Joseph Dhata’s header saved for a corner and Cromwell Rwothomio denied twice by Bright Stars’ exceptional goalkeeper, Hassan Matovu.

The second half saw the hosts dominating, with Rwothomio, Rashid Okocha, and Dhata missing key chances. Enock Ssebagala seemed to have secured a late victory, only for his goal to be disallowed for offside.

Bright Stars can take pride in securing a point, notably in their opponents’ territory, in their final league game of the year.

However, NEC FC might feel disappointed for not capitalizing on the numerous wasted opportunities during the match.
