Forward Amisi ‘Carmelo’ Saidi and Big man Fadhil Chuma are reportedly set to bolster the ranks of National Basketball League newcomers, JT Jaguars.
Amisi, previously with KIU Titans, has been a standout player, notably reaching the league finals in consecutive seasons, and he was arguably the best player of the Regular season with Nam Blazers in 2022.
During his tenure with KIU Titans, Amisi maintained an impressive average of 16 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, contributing significantly to their journey to the finals.
Meanwhile, Fadhil Chuma, averaged 10.3 points and 9.9 rebounds in nine games with JKL Dolphins last season.
Chuma, a centre, also reached the 2019 NBL finals with UCU Canons.
JT Jaguars coach Sudi Ulanga told The-SportsNation that the deals are “not done yet.” But these potential signings would undoubtedly fortify JT Jaguars who are gearing up for the league kickoff scheduled on January 26, 2024.
JT Jaguars, whose sister team, JT Lady Jaguars, competes in the Women’s NBL, aims to establish a solid presence in their inaugural season in the top flight.
Their promotion followed a successful run in the Division One semifinals against Victoria University, although they fell short in the finals against fellow newcomers, Livingstone.
In an impressive regular season showing, they secured 28 victories out of 30 games, advancing through the quarterfinals by eliminating Miracle Eagles, marking a swift rise after clinching the Division Two title in the previous season.
