Busoga United secured a remarkable 2-1 victory against Kitara in a thrilling league match held at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Jeremy Matata initiated the scoring for the Uganda Premier League in the new year, followed by Kitara’s equalizer from the penalty spot by Paul Mucureezi.

However, Busoga United regained the lead through Emmanuel Ajo.

Ajo was outstanding, providing for Matata who swept home the opener in opening exchanges.

Kitara managed to level the score when Mucureezi converted a penalty after Isaac Isinde was penalized for handball in the box.

Ajo sealed the win with a spectacular goal where he beat two defenders, after an impressive play set up by Simon Ogama Ngore.

Despite Kitara’s late effort with Jasper Aheebwa’s disallowed goal due to offside, they suffered their fourth defeat, missing an opportunity to narrow the gap at the top of the league.

Kitara remains six points behind BUL, while Busoga United’s fourth win of the season lifts them out of the relegation zone with 15 points.

What next – Busoga United visit Vipers at Kitende on January 7 while Kitara will host Bright Stars In Masindi on January 5.
