Mbarara City FC clinched a 2-1 victory over Wakiso Giants at Kakyeka, marking their return to the winning track.

Joseph Akandwanaho and Henry Kitegenyi secured the crucial second-half goals for the Ankole Lions, claiming a vital three points.

Tom Masiko netted the lone goal from the spot for his team, but it wasn’t enough as they suffered defeat.

This win halted Mbarara City’s three-game winless run since their previous victory against KCCA with a 2-1 scoreline at the beginning of December last year, marking their third win this season and providing relief for head coach Wasswa Bbosa.

Although they had a sluggish start against Wakiso Giants, Mbarara City rallied in the second half, with Akandwanaho scoring in the 66th minute and Kitegenyi adding the second seven minutes before the end.

Despite Masiko’s late penalty goal for the visitors, it only served as a consolation.

The victory propelled Mbarara City to 16 points from 14 games, while Wakiso Giants remained on 13 points, highlighting their need to improve to avoid relegation struggles.
