Striker Brian Kayanja was the hero of the day as NEC FC came from a goal down to pick a 2-1 win over Arua Hill in a league game held at Lugogo on Saturday.
Kayanja, off the bench scored a second half brace as his side overcame a spirited Arua Hill side at Lugogo.
Nelson Mandela had earlier put the hosts ahead in the second half on a day they put a spirited performance.
It was a spirited performance from NEC against Arua Hill, a side that looked solid throughout the evening.
And in in the first half, Arua Hill looked the better but Reagan Mpande and Mansoor Ssafi were wasteful Infront of goal.
After the break, Mandela gave the visitors the lead at the hour mark capitalising on a defensive mistake to slot in home.
But moments later, NEC responded through substitute Kayanja , who headed in a well delivered cross from Enock Ssebagala.
Later in the 80th minute, Kayanja doubled his side’s lead, with a volley off Joseph Dhata’s header.
The win saw NEC move to 24 points and they finish the first round in the seventh position in what is their maiden season in the top flight league.
For Arua Hill, their woes continue as they remain rooted at the bottom with just five points after the end of the first round .
