Express captain Arthur Kiggundu has joined Kitara FC, The-SportsNation can confirm.
The Red Eagles face a significant setback as Kiggundu, a key defender, formed a formidable partnership with Isa Lumu throughout the first round.
Kiggundu, who initially joined Express in 2018 from SC Villa and later played for Tooro United, decided not to renew his contract expiring in May 2024, leading to Express’s decision to sell him.
This was Kiggundu’s second stint with Express, and his absence will be felt in their defense as they seek to mount a strong title challenge under Alex Isabirye.
His move strengthens Kitara’s defense, complementing players like Maxwell Owachgiu, Ibrahim Magandaazi, Dudu Ramathan, and Jasper Aheebwa.
Notably, Kitara had earlier lost defender Benjamin Nyakoojo to injury during the FUFA Drum, shortly after joining from Kitara.
Kiggundu, who played as a center back for Express this season, also possesses the versatility to play on the left side of defence.
