Express FC is undergoing significant changes ahead of the upcoming second round of the Uganda Premier League.
Four players from their squad – Goalkeeper Martin Ssenkooto, Striker Seif Batte, and Defenders Derrick Ngoobi and Denis Otim – are set to leave.
Despite Seif Batte still having an active contract having joined at the beginning of the season after leaving SC Villa, reports suggest that Coach Alex Isabirye does not see him fitting into the team’s future plans.
Defenders Ngoobi and Otim, the former having joined in 2022 from Bright Stars, are departing after struggling to secure regular playing time during their tenure with the club.
Goalkeeper Martin Ssenkooto, who arrived as a free agent at the start of the season, faced tough competition for a starting position and failed to secure a consistent spot ahead of Abdul Kimera.
Express FC, currently in sixth place with 25 points after the first round, is scheduled to visit Kakyeka against Mbarara City on February 9, 2024.
Additionally, the club and Coach Alex Isabirye extended their contract earlier on Friday, indicating a commitment to stability amid the ongoing squad reshuffling.
