NEC FC head coach Hussein Mbalangu greatly believes that by adding midfielder Gadafi Wahab to his squad, he has also directly added more creativity to his midfield.
With Wahab’s inclusion, Mbalangu envisions more goals and more goal-scoring opportunities through open play and set pieces. The two had closely worked together in Arua before, and the coach knows so much about the player’s qualities.
“He (Wahab) will add more creativity in our midfield. He’s a dead ball specialist and will help us score more goals,” Mbalangu affirmed after capturing the midfielder’s signature.
The ‘Midfield General’, as the coach refers to Wahab has been captaining an Arua Hill side that has struggled throughout the entire first round of the 2023/24 season.
The Kongolo languish at the bottom of the table with just five points from 15 games. They have won just one game, drawn two and lost upto twelve!
Amidst the Westnile-based club’s dark moments, Wahab managed to shine through, directly contributing seven of Arua Hill’s 12 goals, scoring thrice and assisting four times.
The midfielder finds his new club in a rather more comfortable seventh position of 16 teams. The newly promoted top division side has managed to accumulate 24 points in the first 15 games of their debut UPL season.
