In a thrilling encounter on Sunday, a late header from Patson Daka saved the day for 10-man Zambia, securing a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Tanzania and dashing the Taifa Stars’ hopes of a historic Africa Cup of Nations win.

The Taifa Stars seized an early lead in the first half with Simon Msuva’s 11th-minute strike, skillfully assisted by Mbwana Samatta.

Zambia faced a setback just before halftime when captain Roderick Kabwe received a second yellow card, leaving them with a numerical disadvantage.

Undeterred, Chipolopolo showed resilience in San-Pedro, with Patson Daka coming close to scoring after the restart.

The breakthrough came in the 88th minute when the Leicester striker executed an inch-perfect header, capitalizing on Clatous Chama’s precise corner.

Despite the late drama, Tanzania continues to hunt for their elusive first AFCON victory after eight attempts.

The draw leaves them at the bottom of Group F as they prepare for their final match against DR Congo.

Meanwhile, Zambia holds onto the third spot and will likely need a victory against Morocco on Tuesday to advance to the knockout stage after this dramatic stalemate.
