In a thrilling Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 64 clash on Monday, Vipers faced adversity but emerged victorious against Lugazi Stars at Mehta Stadium.

Despite trailing 0-1 at halftime due to Saidi Khalifan’s 39th-minute goal, the defending champions orchestrated a second-half turnaround.

Milton Karisa ignited the comeback in the 46th minute, leveling the score with a brilliant strike into the top corner after a pass from Karim Watambala.

The momentum swung further in Vipers’ favor when Allan Okello headed in the winning goal in the 54th minute, capitalizing on a precise cross from Richard Matovu from the left flank.

Having clinched the Uganda Cup title last year with a triumph over Police in Lira, Vipers are eager to embark on another strong campaign to defend their championship.

With focus now shifting to the Uganda Premier League second round, Vipers prepare for upcoming challenges, including a pending trip to face Arua Hill later this week.

The resilient performance against Lugazi Stars exemplifies Vipers’ determination to win a success double.
