Ugandan midfielder Chris Pius Akena has joined Apollon Pontou FC, a Super League 2 team in Greece.
Akena also previously played for another club in Greece, M.A Agias Marinas, where he scored two goals and made five assists in 21 matches between September 2023 to January 2024.
Akena was overjoyed after joining his new club, as he expressed of social media after being unveiled; “Another step taken, happy new home, hoping for the best. Thanks to everyone that has made this happen.”
He also expressed gratitude for the time he had at his former club; “Thanks M.A Agias Marinas for being part of my journey,” Akena said.
“It’s been a pleasure and an honour to play for M.A Agias Marinas, I made the right choice and take with me wonderful and unforgettable memories that will stay with me the rest of my life.”
“And of course to the fans, thank you for the experience of being a member of your big family. I’ve been very happy here, you made me feel like home.”
The player also returned thanks to his former club’s club president and the board, the coaches and teammates he had at M.A Agias Marinas.
