Brian Omedi’s second-half hat-trick propelled Kitara FC to a commanding 3-0 victory over UPDF at the Bombo Barracks Ground in the Startimes Uganda Premier League.

The Royals ended a five-game winless streak on the road, securing their first away win since October. Brian Ssenyondo completed a double over his former employers with a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture.

UPDF, on the other hand, has now endured a winless run of nine games, losing eight and managing only a draw.

Despite dominating possession in the first half, the Army side couldn’t threaten the goalkeeper. Omedi had the sole chance in the first stanza, forcing a decent save from goalkeeper Okidi Jimmy.

The visitors regrouped in the second half, and Omedi opened the scoring in the 57th minute, breaking the deadlock with a header. Although he missed a chance three minutes later, Omedi completed his brace in the 65th minute, outpacing Aggrey Kirya to slot home.

He secured his hat-trick in the 88th minute, lofting the ball over the helpless goalkeeper.

Kitara FC now sits in the second spot temporarily with 32 points, leapfrogging Vipers, while UPDF FC remains in 15th place with nine points.
