Preview: URA Eye Consecutive Wins for the first time this season

URA will hope to register back to back victories for the first time in the 2023/2024 Uganda Premier League campaign when they welcome UPDF at Lugazi.

The Tax Collectors have struggled with consistency this season and will hope to break the jinx.

They kicked off their second round with a 1-0 victory over Gaddafi FC thanks to Norman Namanya 30th minute strike.

The club is still unbeaten at home this season, they have only drawn with SC Villa and Kitara at Lugazi.

Speaking ahead of the match, URA FC head coach David Obua anticipates a tough match but he’s confident his side will get the job done.

“It’s important and tricky at the same time because a team that is fighting for relegation will always want to get each and every point they can get,” Obua told the club media.

“However, we want to win our games most especially our home games for our fans and we are prepared to compete.”

UPDF on the other side seeks only for a third win of the season.

The Army side got the second half of the season on a poor note after a 3-0 defeat to Kitara at the Bombo Barracks Ground.

They will hope to bounce back as they fight for survival.

However, they have a poor record over URA on the road, they last defeated the tax collectors at their home on 31st October 2015 thanks to a 1-0 victory.

Since then they have lost four of their last five visits, drawing the other.

If they reciprocate the performance against Kitara FC, they are in for a demolition.

In the reverse fixture, they played out a goalless draw at the Bombo Barracks Ground.
