Derrick Ngoobi Signs with Sofapaka FC

Derrick Ngoobi, the former defender for Express FC, has officially joined the ranks of Kenya’s Premier League with Sofapaka FC.

The move comes as Ngoobi’s contract with Express expired, paving the way for his two-year tenure with Sofapaka.

Having previously plied his trade with Kikyusa Cream, Luweero United, and Bright Stars, Ngoobi wasted no time integrating into his new team, immediately engaging in training sessions with Sofapaka.

The club, currently occupying the 14th spot in the 18-team Kenyan Premier League, eagerly anticipates Ngoobi’s contributions following his arrival.

Ngoobi observed from the sidelines as Sofapaka secured a 2-1 victory against KCB on Saturday, February 3rd.

However, fans eagerly await his debut, scheduled for Saturday, February 10th, when Sofapaka faces Talanta FC at the Kasarani Annex Stadium.

Subsequently, Ngoobi is set to make his home debut against Muhoroni Youth at the Wundanyi Stadium eight days later.

Joining Sofapaka, Ngoobi becomes part of a distinguished lineage of Ugandan players who have left their mark on the club. Notable names include former KPL top scorer Umar Kasumba, Peter Lwasa, Ahmed Kasirye, Ismail Watenga, and the late Head Coach Sam Timbe.

Sofapaka, established in 2004, recently appointed former Harambee Stars player Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno as their head coach in January, marking a new chapter in the club’s journey.
