Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has announced the appointment of John Walusimbi as their new CEO.
Walusimbi who served as General Manager at Blink Logistics has been handed a three-year contract that will end in 2027. He takes over the role from Allan Mugume who resigned from this position in September last year.
Walusimbi joins UCA with a stack of experience in financial sector that reads 15 years. It is this experience that he intends to make use of as he aspires to create a lasting legacy in cricket.
In his first interview with the Association media, Walusimbi said he is looking at ‘increasing international recognition’ for both national teams.
“As I accept the role of CEO at the Uganda Cricket Association, I am humbled and honored to lead this esteemed organization into its next phase of growth.
“My vision is to increase international
recognition and operational excellence from national, regional to international fame. I am dedicated to collaborating closely with both Men and Women teams, various stakeholders and community to
achieve this vision while promoting excellence, inclusive, and sustainable progress.
“I will build on past achievements, leverage innovative programs and strategic partnerships to elevate Ugandan
cricket globally. I am excited to embark on this journey and grateful for the opportunity to serve”
The former Operations Manager at KCB Uganda Limited joins UCA at a time Uganda is preparing for its first ever senior appearance at the World Cup.
It’s a monumental year for Uganda, but Michael Nuwagaba, Chairman, of the Association is hopeful similar or ‘greater heights’ will be achieved under the new CEO.
“The board has full confidence in John and look forward to greater heights under his stewardship at the Secretariat.”
