Kampala Queens latest signing Merceline Wayodi has promised to inspire the Ugandan club to greater heights after striking a two-year deal with the Lugogo-based side.
The Kenyan midfielder greatly believes that with her addition, The FUFA Women’s Super League (FWSL) defending Champions can retain their national glory, and go on to win even much more.
From Vihiga Queens – Kenya to Kampala Queens – Uganda, Wayodi is poised to keep influencing dominance.
“New workstation – Kampala Queens WFC,” the player wrote on her official Facebook page, announcing her arrival to the Ugandan club, and expressing readiness for the new challenge.
“I am excited to join Kampala Queens because it is a great club in Uganda,” the defender stated before adding:
“We are both going to help each other to achieve our goals. I personally want to help the club defend the title and go back to CECAFA region club championships.”
The Lugogo-based side finished the first round second on the ten-team table with 20 points after nine games – just a point below leaders Kawempe Moslem Ladies (21).
With six wins, two draws and just one loss, the Queens Of Soccer scored 16 goals and registered four clean-sheets in the process.
The dates for resumption of the FWSL second round are yet to be confirmed, but the fixtures are already out, and the Queens of Soccer, under coach Charles Ayiekho will start with an away tie against Wakiso Hill at St Mary’s stadium, Kitende before hosting Asubo Ladies at the MTN Omondi Stadium.
