In a riveting matchup at Lugogo, D-mark Power emerged triumphant over JKL Dolphins with a scoreline of 72-64, marking their first win of the ongoing 2024 National Basketball League season.

Power entered the game with two consecutive losses against City Oilers and UCU Canons, but the five-time champions showcased their resilience and determination on Sunday.

Despite facing adversity with a short-handed squad comprising only eight players, Power exuded confidence, considering JKL Dolphins to pose a manageable challenge.

JKL edged the first quarter 19-17. However, they faltered in the subsequent quarter, managing to score a mere four points while Power surged ahead, leading 33-23 at halftime.

Although JKL Dolphins managed to narrow the deficit to six points after the third quarter, they ultimately failed to sustain momentum as Power maintained their composure, ultimately securing the victory.

Leading the charge for D-mark Power was Elvis Mutebi, who delivered an outstanding performance, amassing a game-high 23 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field.

Additionally, the dynamic duo of Samad Imran and Philip Ameny clinched double-doubles, with Imran notching 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Ameny contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Power coach Timothy Odeke and his assistant Brian Namake will hope their side can build on this victory going forward.

Meanwhile, the defeat marks the third loss for JKL Dolphins in four games, whose lone triumph thus far came against KCCA Panthers.
