Sunday action will bring an interesting match up between the two most outstanding players in the league when Nkumba Lady Marines take on JKL lady Dolphins at 3:30 PM at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

Jamila ‘Zama’ Nansikombi, last season’s finals MVP will lead JKL as Brenda Ekon will carry Nkumba at the other hand. Ekon was named as the 2018 regular season MVP.

Last season, Ekon who is pursuing a masters at the Entebbe-based University garnered a whooping 546 points, averaging about 29 points per game. She was the top scorer and also voted as the league’s most outstanding performer of the year.

Zama on the hand, who many looks at as an improved version of Ekone, led JKL to their first title on top of her National team exploits in the 3X3 category.

Both players are gifted with speed but Zama has added some craft in her brilliant moves while driving the ball to advanced stages on court.

The other edge an explosive Ekone may lack, Zama has it in a stronger supporting cast which is littered with young talent and proven stars like Rita Imanishimwe, Flavia Oketcho, Hope Akello, Peace Nakirijja among others.

Nkumba has greatly improved from last season, with Catherine Haruri, Maureen Busingye, Susan Becca Aanyu all stepping up their game, lifting some burden off Ekone.

The Lady Mariners, are among the three teams who are yet to lose a game from three attempts this season. JKL as expected and KIU Rangers are the other two.

Nkumba beat Angels, UMU Ravens before demolishing YMCA with Ekone in staring role. Ekone knifed YMCA with 21 points, off a 10-of-17 shooting from the field.
