Big league: Kyetume Ease Past Kansai To Storm Premier League

Kyetume have sealed the last spot to Uganda Premier League after overcoming Kansai Plascon in a playoff final game at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo.

The Mukono based side proved handful for Kansai before registering a 4-1 game in a one way affair.

Centre back Benon Tahomera set the tone in the 10th minute before veteran striker Robert Ssentongo grabbed an hat-trick to seal a deserved win.

Henry Kitegenyi brought one back in the 89th minute but it was all that Kansai Plascon managed on the day they will love to forget.

“I congratulate all Mukono people,” saud a delighted Jackson Mayanja, head coach of Kyetume FC. “We now have a team in Mukono after a big wait since the days of Lufula FC.”

“I commend my players and everyone who has done everything to see that this club comes to this day. Please, this is our home (Premier League, its where we should be.”

“We were the better team by a mile and we could have scored more, this is what we have been training and working hard for.”

To reach this stage, Kyetume who finished second in Elgon group with 38 points, had eliminated Dove FC via penalty shootouts in the playoff semis recently.

Kyetume joins Wakiso Giants and Proline FC as the three promoted teams to Premier league from Big league. They indirectly replace Ndejje, Paidha and Nyamityobora in topflight.
