UCU Lady Canons showcased plenty of firepower in a commanding 71-56 win over KCCA Leopards in a league game played at YMCA court in Wandegeya, Kampala.

Led by their two strong pillars – Sarah Ageno and Zainah Lokwameri – UCU utterly dominated KCCA in what was expected to be a close contest.

Ageno put up a player of the match performance to collect a game high 15 points. She added nine rebounds and three assists before retiring hurt after a blow from KCCA’s Martha Soigi in the latter stages.

Zainah was prolific as she made big 3 threes, and was perfect on the free throw line (4-4) to drill in 14 points.

The Canons led the first half 33-24, extended their lead to 19 points going into the last quarter before holding on to down the Leopards.

Maimuna Nabbosa (11) and Abei Priscilla (10) also reached double figures for Nicholas Natuhereza’s Lady Canons who shot 27/59 from the field.

UCU capitalised on their depth to get 29 bench points against KCCA’s eight who had only three players to look for on the bench.

Cynthia Irakunda (13), Martha Soigi (12, 11 rebounds), Sylvia Nakazibwe, Momo Amoding and Judith Ayo Nansobya all put up good displays but were just second best against the Canon-City.
