Katwe United Overcome Kajjansi to storm Big League

Katwe United managed to beat Kajjansi United and storm the FUFA Big League. The Allan Ssewanyana funded team finally makes it to the second tier after losing to Kiboga Young in last year’s playoffs.

Kajjansi failed to protect their 2-1 first leg advantage to succumb and fall 3-1 in a return leg of the Regional league playoff final played at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

Alex Katumba put the Kampala Regional champions in the early lead, scoring inside the first minute to send the crowd into wild celebrations.

Katwe United doubled the advantage – Bukenya Allan scored from the spot after Michael Lubowa was brought down in the box.

Mohammed Kabuye brought one back for Kajjansi off Allan Bukenya’s cross to fire into the top corner, to level the game 3-3 on aggregate.

Saulo Ssemwanga secured Katwe’s feat late in the game – Kajjansi goal keeper punched the ball in play which met ssemwanga who fired a rocket in an empty net to make it 3-1 and a 4-3 win on Aggregate

Katwe United will be playing in the Startimes Big League season of 2019/20.
