Confederation Cup: The Ugly Truth About Proline’s Opponent

Newly promoted Uganda Premier League side, Proline FC, will participate in the 2019/20 CAF Confederation cup.

The Lugogo-based side, winners of the 2018/19 Stanbic Uganda Cup, will face Malawian side Masters Security FC.

Shafic Bisaso coached side will host the first leg (9-11th August) at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo before the second leg in Malawi (23-25 August).

The Ugly Part –
The Club is not financially stable. Reports in Malawi, last week confirmed that all is not well as the players are demanding three months without pay.

“Masters Security players stormed the room where cashiers were balancing gate revenue and grabbed their team’s share from the League match against Nyasa Big Bullets which was played at Dedza Stadium on Sunday and ended up in a 0-0 stalemate,” reads an excerpt in one of the local publications in Malawi.

The players claimed that the administration has given a deaf ear to their grievances, and hence left with no option.

The club is sponsored by youthful entrepreneur Alfred Gangata.

Latest is that on Sunday, July 21, the side failed to turn up for their home game against Mzuni FC and consequently, the visitors have been awarded three points and as many goals. The players have claimed no payments still.

Who is Masters Security FC
Masters Security Rangers Football Club is a team based in Lilongwe, the capital and most populated city of Malawi.

The club was promoted to the TNZ Super League since 2017. They beat TN Stars 4-0 in December 2016 to earn promotion with two games to spare.

In their debut season in top flight, they finished 12th. They were 4th last season and are currently 11th after 11 games with as many points. They have scored 10 goals and conceded 17.

The team is coached by Abbas Makawa and captained by Richard Chande. They last year, used a normal 4-4-2, with Juma Yatina and Vicent Nyangula at the forward line.

The side play their home games at Dedza stadium but use the.country’s main ground Bingu National Stadium to host continental games.

How Did They Reach Here?

Last season, Master Security Rangers FC played at the CAF Confederation cup.

They however got eliminated by Angola’s Petro De Luanda – They lost 5-0 away and drew goalless at home.

They last year, in October, won the domestic cup, beating Be Forward Wanderers via shootouts to reach the continent. They had won their last two (Mzuni and Bullets) games in the same competition via penalties.
