CECAFA U20: Uganda Hippos Start Preparations

Uganda’s U20 national football team, the Hippos, has kicked off their preps for the upcoming CECAFA U20 Championship.

The team held its first training session on Thursday morning at FUFA’s Technical center in Njeru.

Uganda are the hosts of tournament that starts on September 21st to October 5th 2019.

The team which is going to be coached by Molly Byekwaso as the head contains a provisional squad of 30 player who were summoned.

According to Assistant coach Hamza Lutalo, they expect to have a full squad after this weekend when other missing players are done with league games from their respective clubs.

“We started training today morning but all players are not yet here,” Lutalo said on Thursday after the first session. “We are expecting those in Super league to join us after playing their league games over the weekend so that we can prepare well for the tourney.”

Some of the summoned players that also play in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League include:

SC Villa – Gavin Kizito Charles Lwanga.

Busoga United – Kenneth Semakula, Isma Mugulusi

KCCA FC – Musa Ramathan, Steven Sserwada, Joseph Kafumbe, Sadat Anaku.

Vipers SC – Aziz Kayondo, Abdu Karim Watambala.

Proline FC – Bright Anukani, Ivan Bogere,

Denis Otim (Mbarara City), Sadam Masereka (BUL), Hassan Ssenyonjo (Wakiso Giant), David Ssekajj(Bright Stars).
