KCCA FC will be without star duo Allan Okello and Mustafa Kizza when they face their bogey side Mbarara City FC in their second round opener at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

Club coach Mike Mutebi said that the two players have been ruled out because of illness.

The development comes amidst growing transfer rumours that linked the two players to clubs overseas, and this was recently fueled when Okello and Mustafa refused to renew their contracts.

The two, didn’t feature in the reverse fixture at Kakyeka, which coach Mutebi also missed, as KCCA lost 2-1 thanks to goals from Swalik Bebe and Ibrahim Orit. Sam Ssenyonjo scored a consolation for KCCA.

Mutebi believes his side will do the needful to walk away with the three points.

“We have prepared well and after our players helping Uganda win the CECAFA cup, it added a winning mentality to our players,” Mutebi told journalists at Lugogo on Tuesday.

Mutebi revealed that Mike mutyaba, Ssenyonjo and Sadat Anaku, Julius Poloto are available for selection while Saddam Juma and Jackson Nunda returned to training as well.

This will be the sixth meeting between the two sides; KCCA has not beaten Mbarara – Losing once and drawing the other four.

“There is a challenge for us to beat Mbarara. They don’t have a chance here tomorrow (Wednesday) even though we expect them to give us a challenge but in the end we shall prevail,” Mutebi added.

KCCA FC, trailing leaders Vipers by four points, will be targeting to close the gap atop.

Mbarar will be starting new life after departure of star player Paul Mucureezi who has joined Vipers as a free transfer.
