Zambia FA Raided By Drug Enforcement Commission

Work at Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) offices in Lusaka on Thursday afternoon were paralysed after a raid by Drug Enforcement Agency (DEC).

FAZ said in a statement that they “fully cooperated” but the DEC officers who were armed confiscated a laptop of of general secretary Adrian Kashala among other tools.

“Officers from the Drug Enforcement Commission presented a search warrant looking for drugs and narcotics and other related substances,” reads a statement from FAZ.

“FAZ is however disturbed by the nature of the operations conducted by DEC especially that it has set the benchmark of conducting its business above board.

“As FAZ we wish to reiterate that we operate on an open door policy and remain available to whoever wishes to seek information within the law.”

A report in one of the local press in Zambia has said that the raid is about an investigation about Kashalala’s involvement in the transfer of a player involving Nkwazi FC and Napsa when the former was director of sports in the Zambia police.
