UPL More Competitive Than Where I had Left It – Keziron

KCCA FC midfielder Keziron Kizito believes that the Uganda Premier league is now “more competitive” compared to where it was before he left for greener pastures outside the country.

Keziron who was part of the Vipers squad that won the 2014/15 Uganda League, was signed by AFC Leopards of Kenya in 2016 and later joined Kerala Blasters FC of India.

He rejoined the UPL last year in September with KCCA FC.

Keziron, nominated in FUFA Airtel awards in 2015, says that back then the league was less competitive due to lack of good players which is not the case as of now.

“By then, the league was not so competitive like it is now, because by then remember its only our team (Vipers) which had good and experienced players compared to other teams,” Keziron said while on KCCA TV.

Last season, KCCA were behind Vipers and just above SC Villa and Busoga United. The league, that was ended with five games to go due to Covid19 pandemic, had also promised a photo-finish in the relegation zone.

Keziron also revealed his best moment of last season which was that 1-0 win against Vipers, thanks to Muzamir Mutyaba’s goal at Lugogo.

“It’s weird but the win we got against Vipers was my best moment because of the rivalry between the two and winning big games is always nice for the players.”

When he was unveiled by KCCA last year, he set a target of wining the league which never materialised but the former AFC Leopards player is confident that he will fulfil his dream come next season.

Keziron added that he is still working hard for a place on the National team again and wants to return to pro.

“I want to improve more, help my team to win the tittle and reaching CAF Confederation Cup group stages. I still have hopes of playing for National team and I know there is a chance if I happen to work hard and I still have hopes of going professional again and Europe is my target.”

Keziron was a member of St. Mary’s Kitende that won the 2013 Copa Coca-cola. He also featured for KJT Rweshama in 2013/14.
