Kyetume FC Receives Financial Boost From Melbet

Uganda Premier League side Kyetume FC and Betting company Melbet have unveiled a partnership ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Melbet who will be displayed on the club’s shirts, will help the club in player arrears among other operational expenses.

The longevity and other financial details were not revealed during the unveiling ceremony at Melbet offices in Nakawa.

“We are much more pleased to sponsor Kyetume,” Melbet Director Andrew Kamwesigye told Journalists.

“Its a great privilege and we are confident about the club’s directions and we want them to win the league.

“This is more than a sponsorship, its a marriage. We target to achieve a lot together.”

This is a big financial boost for Kyetume, christened as the Slaughters courtesy of their earlier links to an Abbotoir in Mukono.

Melbet CEO Yasin Asiimwe said that the partnership is not by mistake because he followed the club keenly during their debut season in top flight.

“I was impressed with the way they played,” Yasin said with a grim. “I know that some of the clubs that finished above Kyetume did so because of their big financial muscles, so we have come on board to improve them to another level.”

“This is going to be a long deal, its multimillion and will include revenue share that will help them in their operations. We are providing them with much more than sponsorship.”

Kyetume who finished last season 11th with 30 points last season, will be hoping for a better placement as they get the new season underway with a trip to Wakiso Giants on December 9, 2020.

“I want to thank God for this opportunity,” started Kyetume FC club President Ruben Kimera.

“We are privileged to be working together with such an ambitious company – Melbet. We have been discussing a lot with them in the past and I am glad that it has eventually come to fruition.

“This club started way back in 1970, I watched, supported and also played for it at some stage. When we were promoted into the league last season, our target was to stay ad we managed to achieve it, now, we want to compete. We have been cooking a lot in the background and in silence and the time is now. We assure Melbet that they will get the mileage they deserve.”

Kyetume FC CEO Emmanuel Musinguzi, Club Technical Director Jackson Mayanja and Melbet officials attended the unveiling ceremony.

The Club will unveil players for the 2020/21 season next week.
