Gor Mahia: Kenyan Giants Appoint Portuguese As New Coach

Gor Mahia have confirmed appointment of Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto from Portugal as the new head coach.

Pinto has penned a two-year deal with the club.

The 46-year old replaces Roberto Oliviera who parted ways with the club after he was banned from sitting on the bench during CAF games.

Oliviera lacked CAF ‘A’ coaching license or an equivalent of UEFA pro certificate which is a requirement for a coach to oversee a Continental game.

The K’Ogalo temporarily hired Posta Rangers coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo to steer the club ahead of their CAF Champions League games.

They eliminated APR of Rwanda but were humiliated by CR Belouizdad of Algeria 8-1 on aggregate.

Pinto’s assignment will be helping the club negotiate past NAPSA of Zambia in CAF Confederation Cup play-offs with the first leg to be played on 14 February in Nairobi.

He has previously handled Saint George (Ethiopia) and Recreativo Libolo (Angola) among other clubs.
