South African top sides keeping close tabs on Hippos Youngster Kakooza

Uganda Hippos net buster and 2021 AFCON U-20 revelation Derrick Kakooza is on the radar of various PSL clubs according to reports from South Africa.

The 19-Year old has been dragged into limelight by his goal scoring exploits at the on going U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Maritania.

The Police FC forward has five goals to his name at the biennial tournament, a tally that has elevated him top of the scoring charts with a final left to play.

The peak of his 5-goal return, however was a superb hat rick as Uganda Hippos dispatched Tunisia in the semi finals to secure a coveted slot in the finals at their maiden attempt in the tournament.

Solitary strikes in each of Uganda’s 2-0 and 2-1 victories against Mozambique and hosts Mauritania respectively in the group stages complete Kakooza’s five goal haul.

Whether his five star struck goals encapsulate his potential is a matter of big debate what is not debatable though is that with such top-notch displays, suitors were bond suffice.

And according to South African website Soccer Laduma, there is a lot of interest in the lad and his representatives have been reached out about the possibility of securing the player’s services.

Supersport United, Kaizer Chiefs and Memelodi Sundowns are reportedly some of the heavyweights queuing up for the players’ signature.

Kakooza and his colleagues play powerhouse Ghana in the finals on Saturday as the Hippos seek to write history.
