Namawejje: VVC Youngster Targets National Team, Professional Stint

Youngster Namawejje Margaret harbours dreams of playing abroad and for the National team.

The setter plies her trade with Vision Volleyball Club, a top flight side she joined last year. She has featured for her club once and that was during the Ndejje Open before Covid19 disrupted the plans.

“I want to play for the national team and I also get a club from outside Uganda,” Namawejje who is in her Senior six vacation told The-SportsNation.

“For now, my focus is to settle in well with my club as we go for playoffs and championships.”

Inspired by retired United States Setter Alisha Glass and Smith Okumu (Nemostars), Maggie as called by friends, has been in the Uganda U18 and U20 national teams setups.

The 19-year old joined Vision Volleyball Club while in form four vacation and credits coach Eddie for her meteoric rise.

She explains: “I started playing volleyball from St.Noa Girls secondary school, Coach Eddie is the one who taught me volleyball. He just found me around the court trying to play volleyball and he called me to join the team.”
