Lady Doves Women Football Club captain Daisy Nakaziro is delighted to have earned a point against fellow strong side Simba Queens from Tanzania.
She made the remarks in the aftermath of their exciting but goalless draw on Tuesday August 31st at the ongoing CAF Women Champions League Zonal Qualifiers in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Believers had approached this as their second game in group A following a mouthwatering 5-0 victory against FAD FC in their campaign opener.
Nakaziro was quick to admit the fact that the game wasn’t an easy one and maintained that the team was delighted with the point during her media interview at the final whistle. This is what she had to say:
“The game has not been easy on our side but we knew we were playing against a strong side. We thank God for the positive result.”
She would praise her teammates for the good fight despite finishing a woman down, after midfielder Nakuya Sarah was sent off courtesy of a second bookable offense.
When asked about their lackluster display that saw them be second best on the evening, the goalkeeper was not hesitant to take responsibility and indicate that lessons were learnt.
She further spoke about her spirited and inspirational performance that saw her make a host of saves to shrug off the glaring offensive prowess of their Tanzanian opponents.
Nakaziro attributed everything to self-belief and her mentality that the team needed her to put in a shift.
Ahead of their last game on Friday, the custodian expects maximum points and she had this to say in response to the question about expectations:
“In our last game against PVP FC, I expect a win because our most previous game gives us more courage and so expect double efforts from the team. We shall go for maximum points.” She added.
The result saw them move to four points and maintain their grip on top of the group but on levelled points with the second placed Simba Queens.
PVP FC 2-1 victory against FAD FC on Tuesday opens the table up and implies that three teams now have a chance to advance to the next stage in their last game.
The Lady Doves will need nothing less than a positive result when they face the Burundian side on Friday.
