Express FC head Coach Wasswa Bbosa says the poor officiation and disorganization led to their exit in the preliminary round of the 2021/22 CAF champions league stage.
This he said after their 1-0 defeat to Sudanese giants Al Merriekh in their second leg on Sunday, a game that saw Bbosa’s charges bow out of the competition on away goals rule following a 2-2 aggregate.
Speaking after the final whistle, despite the loss, Bbosa however said his boys gave in their best on the day.
“We lost the game and we are out. But according to how the situation was, I can’t blame my players they have done their best,” Bbosa said.
Initially, the game was scheduled to be played on Friday in Khartoum but it was later pushed to Sunday at Obeid, something Bbosa says it disorganized their plans.
“Everything has been disorganized this side. The game was postponed, even the movements changed. The officiating has not been good on the pitch, it showed they had already plans to win the game at all costs.”
Given the fact that most of his players were making their first appearance in the competition, the gaffer remained positive.
“Many of the players have been making their first appearance in this competition, so we want to use the experience they have got and take into the league so that we can qualify again and represent the country.
“Our supporters shouldn’t loose hope we shall keep on going forward and keep winning.”
Back home, the Red Eagles will now shift their focus to the semifinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup where they take on BUL FC. The game is slated to takeplace on Thursday 23rd this week at the Fufa Technical centre.
Ahead of the Uganda Cup, Express will be eyeing at adding another trophy, their third as well. They won last Season’s Uganda Premier league and are champions of the recent CECAFA Kagame Cup that was held in Tanzania, Dar es Salaam.
